“We’re so excited to be partnering with The Container Store as a nationwide partner for the digital expansion of the #kindawesome program,” said Dana Rosenberg, Director KIND Movement. “It’s a program that empowers people to celebrate the acts of kindness happening all around them, and our hope is that it can inspire everyone to spot the kindness in their lives today and every day.”

The #kindawesome card provided to customers at checkout includes a web address (howkindofyou.com) with a unique code, enabling the person to recognize someone else’s kind act via Facebook, email, Twitter or a text message. The person being recognized then receives a notification or message from the sender detailing that they are being celebrated for their kindness with a #kindawesome package which includes two KIND bars and a #kindawesome card to pass on to someone else. The individual being celebrated is then prompted to redeem their gift as well as pay it forward by celebrating someone else’s kind act.

“At The Container Store, we talk a lot about WAKE – like a boat’s wake. It’s the idea that everything you do, and don’t do, affects others around you so much more than you realize,” said Kip Tindell, Chairman and CEO, The Container Store. “We always encourage our employees to be aware of their wake, but we are thrilled to partner with KIND Snacks and their #kindawesome program to give our customers an easy, ongoing way to celebrate kindness and to use their wake in a positive way.”

Kindness Day originated on November 13, 1997 when a collection of humanitarian groups came together to made a “Declaration of Kindness.” Since then, Kindness Day has encouraged everyone to make a similar declaration. Whether it is donating books, food or clothes to a local charity, holding the door open for a stranger, giving someone a compliment or just committing one small act of kindness for another – it all counts.
