Melissa Reiff , Chairwoman, Chief Executive Officer & President

Melissa Reiff has served as our Chief Executive Officer since July 2016 and as our Chairwoman of the Board and President since August 2019. Previously, Ms. Reiff served as our President and Chief Operating Officer from March 2013 to July 2016, and as our President from 2006 to 2016. She has also served on our Board of Directors since August 2007 (and on the Board of Directors of The Container Store, Inc. since February 2006). Ms. Reiff joined The Container Store in 1995 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Stores and Marketing in 2003. She is a founding member of The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Advisory Council, which proactively addresses the critical need for inclusive leadership, and a member of the International Women’s Foundation and C200, which are invitation-only, women-led organizations dedicated to advancing women’s leadership in business worldwide. Ms. Reiff has served on the Board of Directors of Etsy since April 2015, where she is also a member of the compensation committee. She also serves on Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business Executive Board and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Dallas. Ms. Reiff was honored with the 2012-2013 SMU Cox School of Business Distinguished Alumna award, awarded the Texas Trailblazer Award by The Family Place in 2019, and in 2020 was inducted into The Junior Achievement of Dallas Business Hall of Fame. In addition, she has been recognized for her leadership acumen several times by D CEO Magazine and the National Retail Federation.

Jodi Taylor , Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary

Jodi Taylor serves as our Chief Administrative Officer and Secretary since August 2020. Previously, Ms. Taylor has served as our Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer since July 2016, Chief Financial Officer since December 2007, and as our Secretary since October 2013. Ms. Taylor is responsible for the business areas of Real Estate, Procurement, Payroll, Benefits, Legal, and Loss Prevention. Prior to joining us, Ms. Taylor served as Chief Financial Officer and Secretary from 1998 to 2007 at Harold’s, a then publicly traded apparel retailer. From 1986 to 1998, Ms. Taylor was an executive with Baby Superstore, Inc. or successor companies, which after an IPO in 1994, was ultimately acquired by Toys “R” Us, Inc. in 1996. Ms. Taylor has served on the board of directors of The J. M. Smucker Company since August 2020. Ms. Taylor was formerly an auditor with Deloitte, Haskins, & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche).

Jodi, an Iowa native, is a graduate of The University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Jodi is a Certified Public Accountant.

Jeff Miller , Chief Financial Officer

Jeff has been with The Container Store since August 2013 and serves as our Chief Financial Officer since August 2020. Previously, Jeff has served as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer since August 2013. Prior to joining The Container Store, Jeff was at FedEx Office for over 10 years and served in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, progressing to Vice President and Controller from 2008 until his departure. Jeff began his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young. He brings over 25 years of accounting and financial reporting experience to the Chief Financial Officer role.

Jeff is a graduate of The University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant.

Melissa Collins , Chief Marketing Officer

Melissa Collins has been with The Container Store for 22 years and has served as our Chief Marketing Officer since July 2016. Ms. Collins serves as the Company’s primary marketing strategist, and oversees such key functional areas as brand positioning, advertising, public relations, digital marketing, visual merchandising, e-commerce, social media and “POP! Perfectly Organized Perks”, our customer engagement and loyalty program. Previously, from August 2008 to July 2016, Ms. Collins served as Vice President of Creative and Online. Prior to that, she served in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, beginning as Art Director and progressing to Senior Director of Creative and Online Services.

John Gehre , Chief Merchandising Officer

John Gehre has served as our Chief Merchandising Officer since August 2019 and, prior to that, as Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Planning since May 2018, with responsibility for product assortment, inventory allocation, global sourcing initiatives and private label strategy. Prior to joining The Container Store, Mr. Gehre served as the Vice President of General Merchandise, Global Sourcing, and Front End from February 2007 to January 2018 at H-E-B, an American supermarket chain. Mr. Gehre previously gained experience in merchandise planning, product development, omni-channel marketing, and supply chain with BJ’s Wholesale, Linens ‘n Things, Saks Fifth Avenue and Federated.

John is a graduate of The University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in economics.


Eva Gordon , Executive Vice President of Stores & Services

Eva Gordon has been with The Container Store since 2006. Eva is responsible for the critical areas of store operations and sales management, employee training and development, call center, and In-Home and Virtual Design Services. In her employee development role, she oversees programs focused on the engagement, training and career development of The Container Store’s employees – enabling them to be the company’s most devoted brand ambassadors. Previously, Eva served as Vice President of Stores, Training & Development and Recruiting. Prior to joining The Container Store, Eva held various positions with Mark Shale and Harolds retailers.

A native of Atlanta, Eva is a graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in marketing.

John Thrailkill , Executive Vice President of IT and Business Development

John has spent his entire career with The Container Store, joining the company in 1991 in a sales position. In his role leading the technology and business development functions, he is responsible for developing the strategy and deploying the solutions. Working closely with all areas of the business, John and his team ensure that the company’s IT systems and processes offer the tools available to create an exceptional and consistent omnichannel experience– stores, e-commerce and call center. John has served in a variety of leadership capacities across the enterprise, in such areas as store management, sales management, operations, training and marketing. Among the many highlights of his tenure: leading the development and launch of the company’s website; and serving as one of the company’s first Super Sales Trainers. Prior to his current position, he was Vice President of Store Systems, Customer Support & Business Development.

John is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications

Gretchen Ganc , Executive Vice President of Strategy and Analytics

Gretchen Ganc joined The Container Store in December 2017. Gretchen’s duties include supporting key performance management processes, such as monthly operating and strategic reviews, as well as partnering with leadership on high-priority initiatives to ensure resources are fully optimized. She is also responsible for leading other value-creating opportunities for the company including pricing, testing, and Business Solutions. Previously, Gretchen was with JCPenney in multiple leadership roles including Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Business Development and Vice President of Customer Analytics, Insights & Strategy. She also held leadership positions with other retailers including Fossil Group and Ann Taylor. Earlier in her career, she served as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company and as an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston.

Gretchen is a graduate of The University of Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in finance and computer applications. She earned her master’s degree in business administration from Dartmouth College.
